Among industrial boilers and therefore among steam generators , the  horizontal GMT and vertical GMT/V steam generators are mechanically crossed coil boilers . The countercurrent heat exchange between water, steam and combustion products, the relative turbulent regimes and the fluid velocities kept as constant as possible with the variation of the passage sections, allow for particularly effective heat exchange. The thermal load in the combustion chamber is on average contained below 2,000,000 calories per cubic metre, while the specific production (kg of steam produced per square metre of heated surface) does not reach values ​​of 70 kg/m2.

For installations in Italy, GMT and GMT/V generators up to size 200 are excluded from the scope of UNI-TS 11325 and are exempt from the continuous presence of a licensed operator according to article 29 of the Ministerial Decree of 21.05.1974. For larger sizes, it is possible to provide the configuration suitable for unsupervised operation for 72 hours. If necessary, for example in the case of installation in European countries other than Italy, this configuration can also be provided on the smaller models.

Maximum power in minimum space, very small footprint, very high efficiency, are the peculiar characteristics of these steam generators, which can work with both two-flame burners and with modulated regulation.
